Value
What is a value in a dataset?
A single data point.
A value is one piece of information. It is the answer one observation gives to one variable. We write values inside cells.
A value can be text, a number, or a combination. Values inside a variable need to be consistent. In fact, many issues we encounter with real-world datasets stem from values: missing values, typos, numbers stored as text, text stored as numbers, answers entered in the wrong row, and more.
